does anyone know the meaning of the last name Deusterman(german) and the last name Melstrom?

Deuster is...German: nickname for a grim or low-spirited person, from Middle High German dinster, duster ‘black’, ‘dark’, ‘grim’.

So I would guess the man on the end is redundant and probably added to Deuster some time is history. I also saw that Deusterman from the Census originated from Minnesota in the U.S. in the ~1880's.

Melstrom but may be a short form of Maelstrom which means:
a large, swirling body of water.
