Anytime between 6 months and a year, and it's also influenced by the seasons, when the days start to get longer, cats and dogs will begin to go into heat, which by the way is right now on the calendar : )
And yes, they will cycle in and out of heat every 2-3 weeks from now until late October unless they get fixed or pregnant.

Usually 6 months. I had a cat that didn't go into heat until she was a year old. That is very rare though.

mine kitten started when she was 5 months, so i could say anywhere between 3 to 6 months depending you cat, not all cats will go into heat at the same age, but when there in heat they can become so anoying and the first thing you will want is to take her to the vets and get her fix, ever see your kitten get it on with your kitchen chair and hearing her meows get loader like shes is ready to blow her load, not a pretty thought, lol

As early as six months old. Once they go into heat they stay in heat until they are mated.

My vet has seen several cats pregnant by the time they were 3 to 4 months old. I thought that was too young too, but apparently not.
