Don't make up your mind about this school immediately. Take a tour of it, talk to the teachers or counselors, see if you can shadow a student for a day . . . and whatever you do, don't go in there with a conception already in your head. If you keep an open mind, you may be pleasantly surprised!! And if you still feel so strongly against this school after you've done all of these, then talk to your parents in a mature and responsible manner . . . they'll be more likely to listen to you and take you seriously if you're prepared and you've stated exactly why you don't want to go there and the benefits of staying at your current school (not just your friends . . . think of academics -- that is what school is for anyways -- and remember that you can always see your current friends after school and on the weekends and will have the opportunity to make new, possibly closer friends at Pearland). Write a typed, formal letter to your parents letting them know your feelings. But be glad that they are taking an active interest in you and your future -- they obviously want the best for you and you should be grateful and tolerant of that!!! I went to a private school for years, and they were some of the best of my life -- it's a lot smaller and more intimate than a public school, you get more attention and help from the teachers, and you really get to know your classmates -- you're not just another face in the crowd. I would strongly recommend checking out this school or finding other options -- I'm assuming you're going into high school? -- and remember that private schools look really good on college apps!!! Good luck and hope this helps you!!!

It seems like the better school is where you should go just so you can get a better education. And since you don't mind making new friends that probably won't be a problem. As far as your old friends go maybe you can make a standing appointment with them (on the first Saturday of every month you'll meet at the movie theaters, you can see a movie and go out to eat). That will keep you in regular contact with your old friends and reduce your anxiety because you'll know you'll get to contact them.

Most private/parochial schools aren't that bad. They provide a better pupil/teacher ratio which means you get more help when you run into something you have trouble with. As for your friends, why won't you see them after school, weekends, and holidays? Perhaps your parents think you could do better in your studies. Perhaps they're not happy with your choice of friends. Perhaps you should talk WITH them to find out their reasoning, and think about what they say before deciding that they're wrong. If they have no good reason, then you can refute their position with a reasoned argument.

Don't worry about the friend issue. Most people you are friends with in school you will lose contact with later on in life. And going to a "geek" school may be best. You go to school to get an education. If that is a top quality school, it would be in your best interest to attend.

go to the school and don't worry about your friends.
how many people you know still know the same friends after college, or is as close to them?
poeple change in personality in college, then they graduate and get a job somewhere and move away.
don't slow your self down just to hang out with friends, ten years from now you will regret it.

the place i'm from public training isn't very solid so in case you like a solid training you may attend to a private one. yet this extremely relies upon, some public colleges are very solid and a few are very undesirable, in basic terms as some inner maximum colleges are very solid and others very undesirable.

Yes...grow up and understand that your parents are trying to make sure you are prepared for the rest of your life.
Maybe this new school can teach you how to spell correctly?
