Check out the resale shops if you don't mind used. I know they start stocking them about now in NW Indiana and I'm not far from Chicago. Other than that, check the clearance racks at Bridal stores. They usually have mismatched "bridesmaids" dresses you can use for prom. Have fun!

Honestly, hit-up Carson's, Macys, Filene's basement and even Nordstrom...clearance racks...Last year for my senior prom i got my dress for i think $22, my shoes cost more than my dress did. and i received SO many compliments on that thing...it was pretty awesome! Try Peaches off of Archer and Central in Chicago. They have a rack of dresses that are under $100. Only downfall, they dont let you try these dresses on.

Secondhand stores like the Salvation Army and Value Village are a great place to find accessories such as vintage purses, old fashioned shoes and slightly used dresses with potential. Senior Anahita Karimi did some bargain hunting in search for the perfect prom dress and stumbled across a good deal at a local thrift store. "I bought a strapless satin-like dress with pale blue beadings at Filine's Basement for $35," she said. "The irony is that I paid more for my shoes ($40) then I did for my dress."

I'm sure a town as big as Chicago has all sorts of shops, maybe even a resale shop or two. The resale shops would probably have very nice dresses that were expensive when originally bought, but are now reasonably priced because they are second hand.

There's a store called DEB that sells prom dresses or you can go to a bridal store and buy one that's inexpensive. DEB would probably be your best bet. Go to www.debshops.com for a location near you.
