This rifle doesnt use black powder it loads a .50 caliber bullet. I've seen them at Wal Mart earlier this year.

Sadey,

That actually is a black powder muzzle loader. Thompson Center makes the ones you see in Wal-Mart, as does New England Arms I believe. These do give you the option of using black power, Pyrodex, or the compressed powder cylinders. Its your choice of propellant - that is inserting down the muzzle first, followed by the .50 caliber projectile, which can be a standard or saboted projectile. The ignition source is a 209 shotgun primer in the breech - the gun after being loaded is broken open at the breech, a primer inserted into the block, and the gun closed.

There is major difference between a .50 caliber muzzle loader [projectile] and .50 BMG cartridge. About all the have in common, is the projectile is .50in in diameter - otherwise, evertything is different.

The tip of the barrel is the muzzle. They're called muzzleloaders, and they typically do use black powder, though substitutes are available. The ones you saw at WalMart probably use a percussion cap for ignition, but flintlocks are also reasonably popular. Other descriptors are for other aspects of the firearm and can get quite specific, but on what information you've given us that's as far as we can go.
Incidentally, you're unlikely to see one, ever, and certainly not at Wally World, but there are rifles designed to have a cartridge with powder but no bullet loaded at the breech (the back end of the barrel) and the bullet seated from the muzzle. These are a very specialized form made for a very specialized type of target shooting.
