There are dozens of high quality foods on the market, that don't contain corn. Innova Evo is one of them.

Here's what to look for in a high quality food and a couple suggestions as well.

High quality foods include Canidae, Innova Evo, Natural Balance, and Nature's Variety to name a few.

Nothing you find at a grocery store is going to be a good food. High quality foods can be found at large pet store chains, or online. A couple of foods I like are Nutro Natural, Innova, Innova Evo and Cannidae.

There are other high quality dog foods. Here's how to spot them:

A high quality food will have little or no fillers such as corn, wheat or soy. These aren't very digestable for dogs, and are common food related allergens. Since you were seeing corn meal in the first few ingredients, those are not high quality foods. Foods list ingredients by content, with the ingredient it contains most of at the top.

A high quality food will not contain BHT, BHA or Ethoxyquin, these are all chemical preservatives that have been linked to cancer.

A high quality food will not contain by-products of any kind. Meat meals are ok as long as the source of the meat is listed, such as Chicken Meal.

A high quality diet should have meat as at least the first ingredient., and be made from human grade ingredients. Foods that don't use human grade ingredients often get their ingredients from less than desirable sources, such as meat from animals that were diseased, or euthanized.

There is another diet option other than dog food. Some people choose to feed a raw diet. This involves feeding the dog raw meaty bones and organ meat. However it is not as simple as throwing a couple chicken bones in a bowl everyday. If you wish to feed this type of diet, do lots and lots of research first. Switching to this diet without knowing what your doing can lead to nutritional problems for your dog. I'll give you some links as a starting point in research if you are interested in this type of diet.

There are many corn free foods out there. BUT don't go to the grocery store to get food for the dog. They generally sell the cheapest brands and most of them contain corn (usually as the first ingredient too). Although the grocery store here started to carry Brandon Farms food which is corn free and wheat free (and organic).

Go to a pet supply store (like PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus, Petco etc). Ask the staff to help you find a corn free diet, there are lots of them. Personally I feed Royal Canin Sensible Choice Natural Blend, it has no corn or wheat in it.

If it's for a dog with allergies, I highly recommend SOLID GOLD Hund-n-Flocken. It's a premium, holistic food specially formulated for dogs with allergies (no corn). It's a smaller company, so it can be difficult to find -- even in larger petstores. I order mine through the Pet Food Direct website ( www.petfooddirect.com) and have it delivered to my door. Only one of my dogs has allergy problems, but both dogs eat the Hund-n-Flocken; it's done wonders for both of them. Here is a link to the Solid Gold website (they have a "store locator" on their home page):

Hi StReSsOuT!
Raw Food For Dog - it is my advice.
Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Raw_Food_For_Dog/

Dogs should eat 75% meat, 25% vegetables and/or fruits – easy to remember. If you like to have some dry dog food available, you can offer your dog one cup in a separate dish daily. Use a first class dog food like Dick Van Patten’s Natural Balance Potato & Duck or any other potato based dog food, BUT only as a filler.

Why does everyone insist on feeding their dogs feed with veggies and rice and stuff in it.....dogs are carnivores, they should be fed meat.
