Paying for the vet is a necessary cost of having a pet.

People cannot diagnose over the internet, its not only illegal, its also dangerous. A vet can't legally do this over the phone either.

If you aren't willing to pay for veterinary care, you have no business owning a pet. Especially when most vets will work with you for payment of really expensive things.

I am by far not loaded, but I make a point to add funds to my pets savings account every check. This is there in case of emergency.

I don't understand why people can pay out the butt every year for internet, but can't afford proper vet care for the pets they say they love so much. If you can't put away at least the same amount of money you spend on internet every month for your pets care, then maybe you need to decide which is more important, your pet or your internet access.

So...as others have mentioned Hill's Diets are surely some very low high quality ingredients. Unfortunetely, they are between the few companies who do the prescription diets. i've got chanced on that the Purina prescriptions are a minimum of extremely extra useful than Hill's. it fairly is not as uncomplicated to assert what a extra useful nutrition is on your cat once you're cat needs a particular nutrition because of the fact of a ailment. you're able to talk on your vet approximately some extra useful selections. What I surely have chanced on that facilitates, is at our shield, for cats with crystals we regularly upload some supplementations to their nutrition. They get UT help and Glycoflex. so a techniques that has yielded some super consequences. the two may well be floor up in something so undemanding as a espresso grinder and in basic terms sprinkled good onto your cats nutrition. i'm not a vet, yet I do artwork with a vet especially much on a regular basis and that's what she makes use of. of direction it is not any replace to surely checking with your cutting-edge veterinarian.

If I took my animals to the vet for every little thing, yes it does get expensive. My animals are pretty healthy, and if I find something very wrong, I will definately take them to the vet. If it is something that I know can wait, I will wait. My puppy has a sore/cut on her cheek right now. Not sure how she got it. I've been keeping a close eye on it, and it is healing just fine. I wouldn't take her to the vet unless it got worse. I mean we don't go to the doctor for everything. If we have a cold or the flu all they tell us is to get plenty of fluids and rest. Wow glad I spend the $15.00 co-pay for that. Most people probably tell you to take her to the vet, because they don't know how serious it is, or they just plain don't know what's wrong. I highly doubt all these people take their animals to the vet constantly, but they dont want to give advice when they are not an expert.

Really, vets make a living too! If you go to the doctor yourself, just for the doctor to look at you, does the doctor do this for free?? Nope! Take out some insurance on your pet just like people have health insurance for themselves. It is an absolute ridiculous question to think that a vet would look at a dog for free! I took a dog in to be x-rayed today at my vet to try to help diagnose some intermittant lameless with him. I did not expect him not to charge me for looking at this dog! By the way, nothing was seen on any of the x-rays we took. So since the films did not show anything, I guess the vet should not of charged me. Get real!

Can't vet Em, Don't get EM! is a perfect statement for this kind of question! If you don't like the answers that you get, then you should not ask them here. Don't ask a question, and then tell someone that they are a moron for answering it if you do not like the answer that you get.

No everyone is not loaded. Vets are specially trained individuals who spend several years of high quality training and experience with high tuition fees. Most vets love animals and may offer advice on the telephone, or a reduced fee/or payment schedule to take care of the animals...You have a responsibility as a animal owner to take care of the animal...In America most people treat the animals as part of the family..Not treating your animal is abuse and perhaps you could ask around if anyone is willing to contribute to the animal's care/give up for adoption. How on God's earth can you neglect an animal's care?.

I'm defineately not rich but my vet is the 2nd most important person in my dogs life and she's worth EVERY penny I've paid her for her services.
If my boys act funny she's consulted before I do anything. She's happy to give phone consultations without charge realizing that I live 30 miles away from her office. She could prescribe harsh drugs that will only make my dogs sicker in the long run putting more money in her pocket but she won't do it.She feels there are many natural remedies that will be more beneficial to the dogs health overall and less expensive for me.And if your vet is not as caring and understanding then you should find a new one.
We went thru several other vets who demanded my dog be drugged or have surgeries at their command. They muzzled my dogs and pulled and poked and yelled at them showing no care at all for the fact that they were alive and had feelings. And they scoffed at me for not allowing my dogs out of my sight.
The attitude I got from these people was that they were far more superior to me and the diploma on the wall said so.I'm an idiot and they are there to tell me how my dog will be treated and I'm there to pay for it no matter the cost.I DON'T THINK SO!
I realize that most people won't bother going out of their way to find a vet that their dogs as well as themselves are comfortable with.Or shop around and compare prices for procedures or get second opinions on their pets conditions. That's their mistake.
Every vet I've ever gone to has an answering machine on after hours that tells the emergency number to call after hours.Every Vet I've gone to until this one will set up a payment plan for very expensive procedures as well IF THEY KNOW YOU.And by that I mean they see you on a regular basis. Not just once a year when it's time for a shot.My vet gives shots at no cost once a month for people who cannot afford to vaccinate their dogs. And when we ran into a bad spot financially she spayed my cat and removed several cysts from her ovaries and reduced the fee drastically. She did the procedure for nothing charging me for only what she absolutely had to.
Medical care for your kids is expensive and so is medical care for the dog. That should be considered before that cute puppy gets drug into your home. And if you don't think you can afford the shots and the emergencies then you should'nt bother getting the dog.
My dogs are a part of my family. They are treated with respect and consideration. We understood that having a dog was like having a 4 yr old child underfoot until the day it passes on.We have never taken our children to the Dr.or emergency room, handed them to a nurse and went on about our merry way waiting to be called to come collect them when they were done and we will never do it to our dogs. And no one else should either.
If you take the time to research your breed and specific health problems before you have a problem you'll be a little more aware of what to watch for.
And if you'd be aware that a dog IS very like having a toddler around and realize that you're going to have to keep one eye on the dog 24/7 to keep it from harms way then you won't run into so many problems.Your life has got to be altered to accomodate a dogs needs and feelings or you have set yourself up for disaster.
Common sense is the key here.Keep on asking questions here and join a breed specific chat room.Other owners of your breed are the perfect ones to ask advice from. But take your questions and concerns as well as what others have explained worked for them to your vet and discuss them all there before doing anything. What works well for one dog might not be the best for another evan tho they're the same breed.Dogs are just as different as people.

I wish i were loaded I've spent $1,000 on my puppy and she's only 5 months old now she had kennel cough when we got her and a culture was alot of money and the medication was outrageous, then she had an anal abysess more money for an emergency room visit which was $75 just to walk in the door then add on the shots they needed to giver her and anitbiotics and we wound up paying $250 for that one office visit. I had no choice but to take her to the vet she was crying and in pain, so that's what my credit card is for emergencies and if it were one of my kids I'd rush them to the doctor too I wouldn't play doctor with a dog but with my kids yeah because I know much more about illness with my kids then with a dog.

you have to be lucky to find a good vet that wont steal your money and charge you stuff for your dog that's not necessary, i use to go to this vets all my life until i learned that they only care about is the money more then seeing your dog which almost cost my dogs life so i went with my instinct and went to see another vets 40 minutes a way and they look at her under paw that she caught and said that the bleeding stop and it looks like shes fine, clean it ever so often when it gets dirty and if it gets worse see me, while the other vets told me that it will cost me 450 to get her all better and all i had on me was 250 and they wont do it unless i have most of the money upfront and since i been with them for 10 years this is what service i got from them, they suggested to surrender my dog to the vets and when it comes for her to be adopted i can grab her, but they didn't tell me if she doesn't get along with other dogs and can be housed in there cage they will destroy your dog, so be careful what the vets tell you and always get another opinion from other vets in your area
