My twins are turning 4 and I don't know what to get them. I am always disapointed with the gifts I pick for them. I am thinking about getting them bikes but am worried it will just be a waist as they will grow out of them by the time they turn 5.

Anyone have any ideas? What toys does you 4 year old like best?

We are in Australia. Summer is coming to an end. We only have a small court yard out the back so swing sets are out.

Since summer is coming to an end, you might consider getting them toys/activities that they can get enjoyment out of inside.
These are things that my daughter loved when she was 4 years old.....and in some cases still does:
Dress-up clothes and jewelry
Polly Pockets - These are so much fun...and better than Barbies!
My Little Pony
Lego type blocks if they are the creative type
An art easel and art supplies
Play tents http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_14/602-5170627-0804627?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B00083DD4O
Cabbage Patch type dolls and accessories
Doctor kits
A kitchen set and accessories

I hope that this list helps. Good luck

I have a 4 yr old daughter and she loves anything she can do outside. Bikes would be a good idea and they come in a lot of different sizes now so your twins might not out grow them as soon as you think. Also, if you can afford it and have room, think about getting them a swingset. It could be a joint gift and they would have a blast on it this summer! Other than that power wheels are usually a good option, unless you have my daughter because she is terrified of hers!

4 year old twin girls...congratulations...What do they like to do? Do they like to color? Do they like to play dress-up? Do they like board games? Also, they would probably love bicycles, and bikes come in all sorts of sizes now so they maybe could get one that has removable training wheels and then when they can ride a two-wheeler, you can move them up.Also sidewalk chalk and baby dolls are popular toys for young girls around here. I don't know your children or this would be easier...

The problem might be, if they are disappointed in what you always get them, is that you are getting them way too much material stuff. Instead why don't you give them a experience for instance a trip to the zoo with a back stage pass to see and touch animals. I do not know what is around you in your area but I know you could probably find something that they have never done or seen and give them that (memories) as a gift instead.

Dress up clothes! You could get them a set of princess outfits, or professional outfits like firefighter, chef, doctor, etc.

Don't pick out anything you would not want them to wear outside your home though. My nephew dressed as a knight for two years!

Hmmm. Tough, huh? Kids love toys but boys like video games or if possible you may give them a PS3! It's really popular and ideal if you are ready to spend loads of money! If the twins have any gameboys between them, gamepaks are the gifts! Oh and if you can, you may give them a DVD of 'Carz'! It gone really popular. I think that you really want to give them a bike, then buy one that is ezpandable, in that way, it won't go to 'waist'!

Find out who their favorite characters are in the movies and games. Take them to a toy store and see what they gawk at the most that could be alot of things but you'll know when you both approve. That should put you at ease.

That's kids though...they outgrow or get bored with things quickly. My advice is if they want bikes, get them bikes. You may want to put some money in a savings account for their future also. My husband I do this for our daughter. We put money in there at Christmas, her birthday, Easter, anytime she acheives a developmental milestone (she's a preemie), etc.
