This is complete BS,Dobes do not "turn" on anyone any more than any other breed!!! As for noses my 15 year old female still sniffs out any treat hidden for her.I have owned and raised Dobes for over 20 years,I have NEVER had any dog I raised show ANY sign of improper aggression.A good Doberman is NOT mean or aggresive.

The loss of senses as they age is true of any living mammal, animal whatever.
Dobes are kinda messed up, some are, simply because inbreeding does not and never was a very good plan for survival.
Not all are inbred, but the Dobe is a breed that was created by Genetic Engineering.
Many doggies,Kitty Kat's, and other 'domesticated' animals are suffering from the effects of the inbreeding that was placed on them by humans seeking attention or wealth.
I have had many Dobes, Shepherds, Kitty Kat's, I treated them good, displayed to them who or what they should listen to, and enjoyed the funny things that doggies and pets do.
That is based on my perception, experiences and information that I was told and accepted as true because the evidence of actual events has proven it to be true, to me.
Any animal or human or anything can go loopy as they get really old, that is nature. Things deteriorate and die, or die and deteriorate. The deterioration part is a known fact. As is the dieing part. If a certain animal is treated good, it is no guarantee that it will not attack and bite the mailman

Not true at all! My 1st lived to be real old. She always had her sense of smell & never turned on me. My friends next door had 3 & they never lost their sense of smell or turned. When you love a breed and pay alot of money for a dog, you've definently researched the breed for any common health problems. This isn't anything I have ever heard about, in all my years around dobermans. I think your friend was miss imformed.
