dont want to give the normal flower rituals like others. so i wonder wat is the meaning if i gave a girl perfume as a gift?

I don't think it's such a good idea.

Flowers, although common, signals some interest in the recipient. Any gift really does that, although flowers carry a romantic notion. I think perfume really has the same meaning, however given the cost and personal taste involved (perfume is really personal, you can't really tell if the person will like it or not, unless you've been out shopping with her) it would seem more "intense" than just flowers.

And since you work with the girl, perhaps it would be better to start with smaller gifts (chocolate, something for the cube at work), or an offer to a meal. So if you can tell that it's not going well, it can always be construed as a normal friendship between co-workers.
