dosn't sound right, to punish the devils wifes will attack his heal or sumthing like that, and the snake would have to slither on the ground, as punishment, then he went to eve to punish her. dosn't say anything about the snake being the devil, just shrewedest of all of Gods creations.

I think, according to the bible, it was just a snake. Satan/the devil was originally an angel who turned against God and tried to take over Heaven, so God threw him out.

But nobody ever asks, "How can a snake talk"? Did the other animals talk? Was that one the only one that ever talked, or did they all talk?
