Some local shelters get $200 Adoption fee... Without papers
So if your dog comes with open AKC Papers where you can breed if you so choose then I would think that would be a price left to *negotiate* somewhere between a kennel price and a Shelter price... (?) Just surmising... take what you like and leave the rest
GOOD LUCK

adoption fees vary according to many factors. Normally a charge of 100 to 200 hundred dollars is reasonable for an adoption from a rescue group. For private folks looking for new homes for a dog, anything in high numbers (hundreds of dollars) is basically selling the dog. THat's why you see so many *adoption* requests on Craig's list get flagged. THey are actually selling the pets but trying to skirt the rules by calling it an adoption.
Edit:
Sounds more like someone trying to *sell* puppies. Whole different ball of wax. If you contact (remember if it's on Craig's list, they are breaking the rules and know it) be careful. Ask about health test for any genetic problems Chi's have (google and go to the breed club website to find out what they are), and if there are health guarrentees. For back yard breeders, they will call a *CH bloodline* anything that might have 1 CH in a 5 generation pedigree. If over 50% of the dogs in 3 generations are not CH, it's not a CH pedigree. Here's a good site to help protect folks from *peddlers*.

Depends on the breed and its lineage. If your adopting a pet quality Golden Retreiver, then anything from $200.00 to $500.00 is reasonable. If you are buying a show quality Golden and he comes from a long line of champions, then $500.00 to over $1,000.00 is not unusual. If you are adopting a rare breed of dog, like a Havanese, you can expect to pay $1000.00 and up. Do I think those are reasonable prices, well I don't, but then again I am not the one breeding and caring for the pups and mom.

I would say anywheres from $350 for males and $400 for females but this is on a Labrador Retreiver would be reasonable. If your looking at a Little dog like and ankle biter Some breeders sell Yorkies for $1200. I believe that's REDICULOUS.
