Oh my gosh YES, YES, YES!!!! It's called aspartame. A fellow I know of buys huge amounts of Equal (another sugar substitute) repackages it and uses it for an effective ant killer. I used a very small amount from a small equal sachet as ants were getting inside the mouse house, I noticed the white mouse eating some of the sugar, within 12 hours the mouse was dead. Stay away from any and all sugar substitutes.
That's not the only ingredient that contributes to cancer (splenda does not cause cancer alone) most of the ingredients you eat on a daily basis are carcinogenic.

Splenda is not asparatame. Splenda is sucralose. There haven't been adequate tests done over a long period of time to determine how safe it is.
Asparatame is known to be lot more dangerous-can have an effect on liver, reproductive organs etc.
Some people have very negative reactions to sucralose. It is a chemical compound of some sort. A lot of diet products, even in health food stores, have sucralose in them. Stevia would be a better substitute for sucralose, when possible.

aspartame has been know to cause cancer in HUGE amounts in mice and rats but you would have to eat like 10lbs a day every day for 210 years to actually get cancer......it is safe in the very small amounts that are in artificial sweeteners.....but if you are so worried about sweeteners....you might like to know that aspartame is in sodas, gum, medications, even certain breads.......as long as many many others things.....so you are pretty much going to starve if you freak out about this
