The answer is not that simple, but in a few words; i have to say that it is not illegal. Limewire is in fact legal, but using it for sharing or downloading copyrighted material is illegal. It's against the terms of use that you have to accept before download too. I hope that i covered your question.

limewire IS illegal but many people use it anyways. it is a program that allows people to freely download songs from other peoples files on the internet. it is illegal downloads, without the artists being paid for the songs. artists lose a lot of money because of stealing programs like this. it is your own choice to use them or not though.
