Wow, how do your prepare for a storm of that magnitude?

I would talk to a counsellor about what that means and see if there is a way that it can be dealt with. The analogy is illustrative of how you feel, but to take it to the place where you are able to get resolution of the problems is to explain what this looks like to the counsellor.

You get help and talk to someone about it. That's the only way. Don't wait it out. It doesn't help the storm.

Well, if you live in tornado alley, one thing you can do is relocate, rather than continually suffering through tornados.
