How to use a tapered tap?

Question

How many pieces are there in a set? For example for parallel taps, there are 3 pieces which are to be use one after the other. How about tapered taps?

tap sets come with 3 taps...taper , intermidiate, plug..
tapered taps are used first to start the thread but dont tap the thread all the way to the bottom of the hole( this is for blind holes)
so you must use the plug tap to get the maximum depth of thread..

Make sure you use plenty of cutting oil. Go in, reverse out, repeat. Don't try to do the whole thing at once. You need to cut a little at a time, going forward and backward. Keep the angle steady and true.
