A hypocrite is a fig tree that looks like it has fruit but is barren. Under Old Testament laws trees were planted so branches would extend beyond fences, then someone on a long hot desert walk could have refreshment, the anticipation of a sweet fruit would look good, but upon arrival it would have nothing to offer. It was called hypocrite! I guess a hypocrite is someone that promises something good but doesn't deliver.
