i have nobody in college to talk with or study with. i realise its not that important and im taking advantage by trying to get the best grades possible, but ive always have friends and made them quickly in highschool (i even changed five diffrent highschools). ive had friends my whole life. but at college i havent made friends even after an entire year... no body is mean to me or anything just nobody talks to me. anything diffrent about college?

college can seem really lonely sometimes. be sure to put yourself out there, go to events, check things out around your campus. if all else fails, look for a party going on somewhere on a saturday night and crash it. you will meet some interesting people guaranteed. good luck!

Hmm...I had a similar issue when I started college too. I had lots of friends in high school and was very social. When I came to college I found it very difficult to make friends. At first it didn't bother me, but eventually I became very lonely.
I think college is different because often you have classes with sooo many different people. In high school you usually see a lot of the same people in your classes which makes it much easier to cultivate a friendship.
I lived on campus the first year I attended college and every year after I have commuted. Commuting has made it much more difficult to make friends because I am not on campus much or involved in the campus culture.
Also, many people at my college are trying to balance work with school and sometimes even families. It seems once you are in college you have more responsibilities that leave little time for making new friends.
I would recommend trying to join some type of campus interest group. This may help you to get more active in the social culture of your college and make friends.
Often, people are nervous about making new friends and are not as ready to intiate conversations with new people. You may have to step out of your comfort zone and start intiating conversations with the people you sit by in your classes. You will probably find that these people are happy to talk to you and are eager to make friends.

same thin wid me but i went to bout 10 diff skoolz and now im in college and i noticed i dnt talk to anyone so i jus joined groups and clubs...i noticed dat i waz kinda shy even tho im not realli jus in college so i slowly started to talk to ppl and datz wat u gotta do...no one bites so jus start talkin to ppl in ur class first and then hang out around the college and get to kno ppl

Maybe you are in a unique college where everyone is mature enough to realize that they are there to learn and freindships can wait.

try to be nice! buy some candy...or snacks and share it with them! always smile! friendly to anyone...and one more thing...be friend with everyone else! even a nerdy one...and if they tease u...fight with them! then somebody will ask to be ur friend! try it!(Be more different than anyone else)
