she is 2 and this is a recent thing, she never done it when we got her or for the next 6months. The last 3months or so shes determined to get any cat poo, she will even get my babies nappies out of the bin (the pooie ones) and eat that. Help, ive read about dogs growing out of it but she's 2 not exactly a puppy. We get cats in our garden which i am trying to stop, but if they have been out there, she'll find it which is not great when i have little ones. We will be getting a muzzle for her walks but what about the garden, its hard to find to pick up.

Sorry, but it's what dogs do! Dogs are scaveners by nature and cat poo is like truffles for most dogs! You could try changing her own food in case she's lacking in something, but other than that there's not a lot you can do. They usually grow out of eating their own poo, but dogs just like cat poo, rabbit poo, badger poo, fox poo - also good for rolling in! - sheep poo, cow poo, horse poo - my dogs eat the lot. One of the less pleasant aspects of dog ownership. Make sure she doesn't lick your children's faces and that she's wormed regularly.

Our 11 month old puppy likes to eat cat poo as well. It is something most of them will do. We are going to get cat prevention things in our yard like cat pepper or these plastic spike things so the cats cant get on the wall.(they dont hurt the cat it just stops them getting on the wall) We have tried a few things and some of them have made the problem less. We tempt him away with his favourite treats. We put him on a lead near the worst cat poo areas in the yard. Telling him off did nothing. About the bin put something heavy on top of it or a lock on it. Hope that helped

It sounds revolting, but that is a human perspective. Look at it this way, think about how much less cat mess you have to deal with; cat produces poo, dog disposes of poo, result? no cat poo!! So long as the does not take it into it's head to cut out the poo bit and eat the cat, you actually have a very tidy situation.

Blimey! Know how you feel. My Springer is 3! She's still got the taste for cat poo, which is quite difficult seeing as I have two kittens who are not allowed outside yet. When she's anywhere near the litter tray my partner and I have to keep a close eye on her, as sometimes she's just gone to retrieve her ball or something. I think it's quite normal though. If they were doing what they're generally bred for - gun dogs - they'd probably be eating fox poo, phesant poo, and all other nasties.

Try feeding her on 'green tripe' if you can find it. It stinks like ??? but my Springer loved it ! Never had any problems with cats in the garden as they were 'not allowed'. However, he did grab a mouthful of whatever from time to time when out on 'walkies' but stopped that habit when I bought a horse ! I have a Giant Schnauzer now and he's never eaten cat's poo since I adopted 8 ferol cats ! Other smelly things he eats; his mouth is washed out with the garden hose. Good luck. Ed.

For some weird reason this seems to be some sort of weird delicacy with a lot of dogs, don't know what the attraction to this gross habit is
