The profession of a Scientist requires a lot of dedication, Hard work, Analytical bent of mind , patience and (especially in India) lower renumerations as compared to MBA , Engineering , Software etc professions . So very few are inclined towards this as even our society pressures us for quicker monetary gains . Becoming a scientist requires a lot of Interest as well as the ability to withstand peers and family pressure to opt for things that bring quicker money and a more comfortable living .

because those few were the dreamers. One does not become a scientist out of choice of profession, you need to be an explorer of sorts, experimentor, a good acumen for hows and whys, and you never achieve a status of THE PERFECT FINALIZED SCIENTIST.

Scientist is not a profession actually. it is some sort of dedication to particular field. scientist in otherway we consider as a researcher should has its all orientation towards the particular field of specialization. he has a enormous and extraordianry interest in his work.
but if we consider the common populace, all will look profession as getting money for their livelihood. hence all are looking for better job for getting more money. besides most of them are not interested in doing their work/ob from their own interest.
so that only scientist profession not wished by many of them.
