remember
1)they are human too
2)they are never going to tell your secrets to anyone else
3)they are probably aware that you are nervous
4)they are there to HELP you
5)Therapy will make you feel much better
6)you can set the rules with your therapist so that they dont cross boundaries that you are not comfortable with until you give permission.

Just make sure you go if you need therapy....if you dont go and procrastinate then you will never end up going through with it...and if you need help then go get it....you dont want to feel worse right?

good luck babe and be strong!

Just concentrate on the fact that you are doing something about your problems. My advice is don't expect miracles. Depending on your problem they may or may not be able to help you unless you go for a long time. If it's a hump you need to get over take the meds and hope they work and use it to get over the rough spot. You may not like the first therapist you see, it's simple, find another one. We are all different and we all need different things. Mostly, use your common sense, you are the boss, your care is your responsibility and they aren't Gods. They are people too. So, go. Tell the truth. Get help if possible and I pray you feel better very soon.

you have a great opportunity. You can tell them a little or pour your hart out and never see them again or come back for another appointment. If this is your first time, I understand why your asking your question. Remember that your therapist is not sure of what your coming for either? So there is some common ground. If I could give you one tip is to stay away from there coffee, therapist coffee is poor quality! Good Luck

I assume you're talking about a psychotherapist. Well, if the reason you're going is cuz you're nervous, you can expect to be nervous about it...it's a new situation. Lots of people do this kind of thing all the time and it's a very helpful, effective way to deal with issues. If you don't click w/this person, find another. No need to be nervous.....breath deep, pray, ask God to get you to the right person. He won't let you down.........

I would begin by talking to my religious leader first, IE: your pastor , priest , or rabbi. You may not need to see a therapist at all and you pastor usually will talk to you for free. Then if you really need a therapist he/she can can send you to one you can trust and that will help you to feel less nervous!
