my friend whos 16 has 5 older brothers and 3 younger sisters oldest brother whos 22 is allowed to ground him because there dad got sent to jail for beating my friend and his mom is in the hospital with cancer there familys been through alot losing there 4 year old sister to a heart defect . The brothers are really close and the oldest brothers a great guy but since my friends been through so much hes beging to cause trouble at home. Do you think its right for a sibling to punish a sibling?

In this particular case I think it is appropriate. He needs guidance, and if his brother is the one who is taking care of him at the moment, it makes sense for him to also discipline him. Seems to me like his brother cares about him and is doing his best to help him.

In this case, yes. Someone has to be the parent of the home and keep the kids in line.

yes. he head of household right now. he is the oldest. and you said yourself your friend is causing trouble. their whole family is going thru tough times why dont you tell him to make it easier by helping out, not causing trouble.
