Hi. I have had my dog for about 4 weeks. She is around a year old. We got her from the Humane Society. Recently, she has been peeing around the house. The other day while I was taking a nap.. Yesterday while I was vacuuming(she's really scared of the vacuum) And today, just walking around in the kitchen. Could something be wrong with her bladder, or is this a behavior problem?

She is a mix between a jack russel and a manchester terrier.

Yes it could be a problem with her bladder; but more likely, it is an indication of nervousness (especially around an unfamiliar machine like a vacuum cleaner, garbage disposal, etc.) Try putting her in another room , or outside, if possible, when using the machine, or other loud noises.

Also, it could be a process of marking her territory. You did not mention what breed of dog this is. Make sure she is given plenty of chance to relieve her bladder outside, and reinforce your approval with lots of good words and petting. It may be enough to get the idea that she is to do it outside, not in the house.

Well, my dog was 9 when she started peeing around the house. Now she just has to take pills to control her bladder. Since you've only had her for 4 weeks, it's probably just territorial or lack of training. You can call your vet, but they will tell you to bring in a urine sample. Best of luck to you and your dog!

It may be a communication problem between you and the dog. If you are taking a nap when she needs to do her business she couldn't very well let you know she needed out. Same thing while you were vacuuming. Housebreaking a dog includes housebreaking yourself to be attentive to signals from the dog.

She is still a young dog. As much as it could be a bladder problem, it might just be a behavioral problem

It could possibly be one of two things. She could just be leaving her scent in the house. Or, my gf dog did this, see if you have a mouse. Her dog pees in the house when mice come in.
