...and the real answer is...
::drum roll::
You 'might' be able to take it to the Chevy dealer (for warranty work). But crossline warranty is voluntary only, and even though it is possible in emergency situations for a Chevy dealer to warranty it is frowned upon but the national dealer council. In fact, my service rep told me I could be charged back if we continued to do crossline warranty.
For customer pay service work, you can take it anywhere you want.

Yes you can! I work at a GMC dealer and we do warranty work on Chevys from time to time. So you're good.
This has only been the case for a few years!
10 years ago you had to take a Chevy to a Chevy place and a GMC to a GMC place.

Yes you can, and yes they will be glad to do the repairs. Chevy and GMC Trucks are made on the same assembly line in many GM plants. The difference is usually in the exterior look and interior trim. Many years ago you didn't have this option, but today, it is very common for dealers to service many different makes and models.

Yes Chevy and GMC come from the same family of auto makers and they should be able to do most repairs. grant it there might be a slim chance they may not carry a specific part but they can get the part needed.

Should not be a problem. I used to take my gmc to the local chevy dealer for service and warranty issues.

well i work at a buick gmc pontiac dealership, we can only do crossline warranty work if we sold the vehicle as a used vehicle or if it is a hardship repair, meaning someone traveling thru town. i would suggest calling your dealership and asking if they would work on it.

GM owns chevrolet and there is no compatability issues. would suggest for future references person checks owners manual or the internet for car makes and marques that reside within them for less confusion.
