Just got one and would love advice.

Good mix. I would just make sure that you do some simple obedience and possible give him/her room to run in yard for excersize (maybe an invisible fence)

both breeds are very smart and sweet. combine them and you probably have the loyalty and size of a golden retriever and the energy and swiftness of a lab and i could only imagine how smart that dog must be!lol you are one lucky person

Spend lots of time training and socializing your dog.

both breeds are really nice. mix them together and you get a really REALLY nice dog.
