I don't think it's a Christian's job to do either. I think if we are Christian, how we live our lives and how we conduct ouselves and our very selves will be what would attract others to be likewise. If what we have is so great, than it should speak for itself. When is the last time you had to tell or convince someone to want a great gift or situation...or a great anything. If it's great , it will be attractive. The Word speaks for itself. I think Christians should be 'the living word'. Maya Angelou said it best:
When I say...."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean living."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say..."I am Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride,
I'm confessing that I stumble
And need Christ to be my guide.
When I say..."I am Christian
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say..."I am Christian
Im not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I'm worth it.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I' just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow.

It is our job to tell you about Christianity, and then pray that the Holy Spirit will "touch" your heart and you'll want to know more, and eventually, become a Christian. However, I think it's wrong to "convince" others to become Christians. God wants you to come of your own free will--not because someone else is forcing you to. Hope this helped.

Any true Christian has a ministry in which they speak about their faith.
Many times asking questions about a particular subject will spark a conversation. If people are not interested in learning about the Bible or have questions about it's authenticity how would you continue?
Beware that there are many organizations saying they are "Christian" however, the "fruitage" of their lives should possibly give indication of whether they are weeds or wheat.
"15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men]." Matthew 7:15-20
"And YOU people will again certainly see [the distinction] between a righteous one and a wicked one, between one serving God and one who has not served him.” -Malachi 3:18

It's our job to tell you not about Christianity, but about the love of Jesus and what he did for you so that you could go to heaven. However, things we say to you must be backed up with scripture.
It may coming across as trying to convince you, but that's not what it is.. It's the fact that some of us care so much about people that are headed for hell that we desperately try to explain to you how great your need really is of Christ, which to non-believers probably comes across as trying to be convinced..

Matthew 28 18 reads all authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the father of the son and of the holy spirit TEACHING them to observe all things i have commanded you and know that i am with you always even to the end of age are job is to TEACH you, to past on this wealth of information its because we know that there is a real hell and we don't want to see nobody going there so brothers in Christ try to convince you that there is a heaven rather then telling you about gods commandments and that we all fall short of them that's why he let his own son come on earth and die for are sins in order to build that bridge to him with out that bridge it would be impossible to have a relationship with the father If somebody can talk you into Christianity i bet you have a couple of Friends that can easily talk you out of it , so repentance comes from the heart and when your ready i bet you can find a Friend to talk to you about god

Perhaps it is best said that we present, teach, and preach the Gospel. I believe God does the convincing by his power, wisdom, and love.
Jesus only used the word convince once in Luke 16:31 and it merely referred to how the person was going to react to Gods power and that based on what was in the listeners heart, not the convincingness of the arguement itself.

I believe that we are here to share what Jesus has given to us. That being life more abundantly, and a heavenly home of eternal life when we die. I understand that we as Christians have a "duty" to reach the lost and to win souls for the Kingdom, however, it really doesn't seem like a job. When you realize how good God is, and how He has changed your life, you just want to make sure everyone knows what Jesus can do if you let Him. God really is amazing.

It is our job to be a witness regarding Christianity. To be willing to give an answer to anyone who asks. If we were on the Titanic, we would be telling you the boat is slowly sinking, but not force you into the lifeboat. Letting you know the realities is one thing, the rest is up to you.

It's our job to tell you. The Holy Spirit does the convicting, it's not really convincing.
