I myself have dead straight hair, and my daughter was blessed with curly hair, which she hates I might add, hence the reason she bought a straightener, I use her straighter to curl my hair, being an ex-hairdresser I experiment with my hair all the time..It worked at treat...Take a section of your hair, twist it a few times until it begins to coil, then clamp the heated straightener into it, but be careful not to burn yourself, I've done that one to many times..OUCH!!.. leave clamped for a about 30 seconds, then release your hair, but do not untwist it..Do a few more sections of your hair, it will look a little like dread locks..after you have finished, flip your head over and shake it out, once you've flipped your head back it should be nice and curly and full of bounce.. I put a little mousse into my hands afterwards and scrunch it through my hair...to hold the curls in...
Hopefully this works for you...
Good Luck

take a section of the hair in the iron, and as you run it down the strand give the flat iron one half of a turn (so the hair is wrapped only 1/2 time around the flat iron), then run it down the hair while it's turned like that. i hope that makes sense. practice a few times, and you'll get it. you need a good iron. try to find one where the ceramic plates come all the way out to the edge of the iron. alternate the size of the sections you wave for a fun look
