Well...no. Acutally they may have gone exctinct partially because Cro-Magnon may have bred them out of existence. That and, while they were well adapted to the environment of Earth at the time, they were not as adaptable as Cro-Magnon was. The Neanderthals were a dead end by virtue of their limitations.

Hopefully modern man will continue to be able to adapt to changing conditions for quite some time to come. If we can't, we might find ourselves being gradually supplanted by a more adaptable or better suited sub-species.

Wear a stone wheel around your neck in memory of them!!!
