I can tell you exactly when I felt the closest to God. It was on May 5, 2002. I had repented for my sins already and was seeking the gift of the Holy Ghost. I had never been raised in church, nor have I attended church religiously (no pun intended). I attend an Apostolic Pentecostal Church (http://www.upci.org) and when I heard of the Acts 2:38 message, I was at a loss for words. When I found out that God actually fills us with HIS spirit and causes us to speak in other tongues, I had to find out for myself.
I am a critical person. I don't believe things easily nor am I ignorant. I had a hard time believing this could be true. However, this was simply because I was never taught about it. I was praying at the altar with my hands lifted in praise. I was telling Jesus how much I love him, how much I want to give my life to him. Suddenly, I started to almost stutter. I didn't really know what it was. Honestly, I thought I was doing it myself. I kept praying and I felt God surround me and fill me with His spirit. I started speaking in tongues and continued to do so for the next twenty to thirty minutes.
So to all the people who say you can't feel God, try to tell me otherwise. If you allow Him to touch you, He can change your life.

There are times in my life when I feel very close to God, but other times I feel far away. Those are the times I am not devoting my time to prayer and reading the Bible.
One day I was really really depressed, had been thinking about committing suicide, and I literally cried out to God. I was asking Him why my life was so bad, and if I was such a terrible person. I heard Him say to me, "I didn't leave you, you left me". That was the day I accepted Jesus as my savior for good, and realized, that I was going through what I was because I had in fact turned my back on God. Life isn't always peachy now, but I have never been depressed since that day 15 years ago, and I have hope in my life now. Hope of a better life here on earth, with a Heavenly Father I can trust to guide me, and hope of eternal life in Heaven. Before that I had NO hope.. just a miserable life, and wanting to die.
God's presence is felt in many ways. Sometimes it's a small voice directing you, a peace that comes over you and comforts you, or a joy that fills your heart in answered pray.

I experience the close presence of God very often during times of worship. Over 30 years ago I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and introduced into worship "In Spirit and in Truth", as referred to in John 4:23,24. I became involved with a Christian home group of young people that would gather together in a lady's living room, sometimes 80 at a time, and sing with all their hearts songs of praise and worship to the Lord. The presence of God was so profound that I felt like I was in a bubble from heaven. I have since experienced this many times and expect to experience greater things than these. I have a daily awareness of the Spirit of God dwelling with me, and know that I can call upon the Lord pretty much at will and experience His intimate presence and what I call the caress of the Spirit.

Yes. When my son was in an accident and received a closed head injury and the neurotrauma physicians said there is nothing that can be done and even if he lives, he will lnever function again. An elder from the church came to anoint him and pray; nobody was in the room but the elder, myself, and my son and I felt Jesus standing at the bedside with us; I could have reached out to touch Him.
Yes, my son recovered, graduated college and is working and doing well but only by the grace of God.

I cant say I've actually felt like GOD was next to me, But i do get the aweful scarey feeling that someone is behind me or in the room with me every once in awhile. And wow why is everyone mocking this question. The thought of God in its self is uncomprehensible, so no question about God is really going to be so called what we think is "realistic"

I did feel God's presence when my Grandpa suffered from a stroke. The doctors said his memory is gone, he can't walk anymore and he's basically a vegetable. When everyone had left the hospital, I stayed behind and put my hand over his. I swear on my life that my Grandpa put his hand over mine (even if the doctors said that he can't move on his own anymore) brought it to his lips like he always does back when I was little. He didn't respond that way again like he did on that day. I think it was God's doing for such thing to happen so my Grandpa could tell me goodbye.

I have felt God very close to me. II feel him all the time right next to me. It is amazing feeling that overwhelms me. He comforts me when I am crying, he helps me through every good and bad situation in my life. I feel the closeness of God and I can't explain the feeling but overwhelming love and peace when he shows me he is right next to me. I have felt him, walking, in church, in prayer, in my living room and so forth. God is awesom and his presence makes me speechless only very emotional spiritually.

Yes i have felt that he was close to me but not in reality. It was in a dream were i was running from a dark mysterious figure and i couldn't find my way out of this hell but then i found a man who led me out of this hellish place and i woke up. The next morning finding something that had been lost for 2 weeks. Something that was very close to me and just that night i had prayed to God and many saints for help to find it.

YES I have! a few times in my life. The loss of my son.. God was there when I needed Him. He gave me instant comfort to get through the time ahead of me. I felt Him in me... a huge bright spot in my heart when I didnt think it possible to have that feeling.
