Your dentist should have given you some advice and treatment options. Here are those I am aware of:
Brush your teeth regularly; at least two times a day. Rinse with mouth wash. Brush along the gum line, the roof of the mouth, all surfaces of the teeth (inner and outer) and also the tounge.

Avoid smelly foods, garlic, raw onions, etc. Brush soon after consuming them.

Go to the doctor to be evaluated for sinus problems and/or gastric problems. Both these culprits can cause foul breath.

Since you go to the dentist I would think he would have told you if it was caused by bad teeth or gums. Often when a person has bad breath it comes from the stomach. It's possible that there is something you eat regularly (maybe garlic) that is causing it. I would go to the doctor. You could have intestinal problems that have no symptoms but could be dangerous.

Good Luck and let us know how you're doing,

The key is brushing your tongue or by a tongue scraper at your local store. Listerine rinsing will also help along with brushing 3 times daily and always floss at least 2 times daily. This will make a huge difference. Also go to you dental office and make sure you do not have active decay or periodontal disease. Always remember unhealthy gums are now being linked with cardiovascular disease.

Drink lots of water.
Brush and floss your teeth at least twice daily.
Use a tongue scraper.
Avoid foods and beverages like onions, garlic, and alcohol that have strong odors.
Use oral hygiene products that don't contain alcohol or sodium lauryl sulphate.
Use specially formulated products that contain chlorine dioxide and or zinc compounds.
And very important is regularly scheduled visits to your dentist

It may be possible that you have acid reflux. Acid reflux is when your stomach acid is pushed back up through your esophagus which can give you a bad taste/smell in your mouth. It is important to get a prescription medication for this because it wears down the lining of your esophagus and has been known to cause cancer of the esophagus. Also a symptom of diabetes is having an odd odor to the breath.

The site below has more information on causes and how to resolve this issue:

Hope this helps!

Avoid eating the kind of food that encourages growth of bacteria in your mouth.

Sugar is what bacteria love the most. If you avoid eating sweets and drinking sugary drinks and brush and floss your teeth immediately after each meal or sweet drink, then your breath problem will probably get better.

Do you smoke? Smoking gives you bad breath. If you're a non-smoker, there might be an infection in your mouth. I remember my mom telling me how mouthwash makes your breath crappy by killing the "good" stuff in your mouth along with the "bad" stuff. I don't know. Visit a dentist and see what his/her opinion is.

I agree. It may be an internal problem. Consult your doctor. In the meantime, a lot of people say that chewing parsley helps get rid of the odour.

I had a friend long ago that had this problem and he said it had something to do with his stomach and digestion.

Get your teeth checked and cleaned every four months instead of six.

fish, garlic and onions will give it the stinky's too.
