I want to buy a old car from someone and the discription of the car is "The car was in a bit of a fender bender that caused the airbags to go off". This means that I would need to put in new airbags for the car. The car is a 1994 Ford Mustang Lx V6 3.8L. Can someone tell me how much it would cost me to fix this, please? Also, the car is selling for $2000 is it worth is for me to make this repair?

The air bags cause a high percentage of older cars to be totaled out, the bags can cost from $1,500 to $3,000 depending on the car.

You might want to pass on the 1994 Mustang at that price, there are better deals out there.

Good luck,

It's very cheap to do the work yourself, just search ebay for the airbags. You'll have a harder time matching the new interior trim pieces (steering wheel cover & dash cover) to the existing interior. The airbags for common US made cars are usually less than $50 each on ebay or from wrecking yards.

A dealer will quote you new air bags, however. Don't expect to get out cheap going that route

Hard to say if the mustang is still worth $2000, as the body damage is not given in your question. If it was bad enough to blow the airbags, then the front bumper shocks are probably damaged and the there's probably more damage than you can see from looking at it. I'd probably pass on it for $2000 for this reason, but airbags themselves are not that bad.

PASS!!

A car that age that has been smashed and is still missing parts isn't worth even $2,000. Pass. It's scrap. Save your money a bit longer and get a better car. If you can barely afford a $2000 car you can't afford the gas and insurance anyway.

Oh MY God! The answer is a lot, but it varies from car to car. Call a dealer and speak to someone in the service dept. before you buy this car!

Offer $100 and drive it without replacing the airbags. If it's your time, then it's your time.... airbags won't save you.
