First, Atheists,
Why bother demanding proof of the existence of God? The concept of God is that He is pretty much illogical. Nothing in creation could poof anything suddenly. For people who believes in God, God is all powerful and he made logic and set up the rules,
so how can you ask for proof of something illogical?
Next, Theists.
Why bother arguing with an Atheist? Believing in God is about faith, we have faith and they don't, it's fine. It's their personal choice, their point of view, their opinion. I doubt they would believe in God even after God Himself appear in front of them, probably they'll see a psychiatrist first before believing in Him. Someday they may see the way we see it, maybe they won't, it's all up to God.
So why bother proving your shirt is red to a blind man?
So theists and atheists, here's the question.
Instead of arguing and bickering, why don't both sides work together to progress?

If Fundies don't like progress, they can stay in the dark ages.
It's much better if we all could work together in harmony and actually do some progress.
If theists could respect an atheist's decision to not believe in God, and vice versa.
Why must we fight?

Some people simply like to fight, even if it means going in circles.

Ahem. What you call fighting. We call discussion.
As a theist I disagree that God is illogical at all. Instead God is logical, but to finite man who cannot ever hope to comprehend God, HE will always remain an illogical being.
Thank you for noticing I am wearing my red shirt today.
I'm glad you told the atheists my shirt is red but they are scratching their heads over that one since they don't know what "color" is or what "the color of red is."
Why don't we work together for progress? Have you not paid attention to the discussion? This is progress.
Here is the paradox. You, the atheists and I and other theists are, intelligent and conscious human beings. Where did we get our intelligence from? Our parents. And where did they get theirs from? From their parents. And so on back to the beginning. Where is the exact beginning for the atheists that intelligence and consciousness began in this universe? What is their source for it?
I think this is a very important discussion. What the atheists are leaving out of the discussion is the very real existence of the God who created them. And he is the one who created man in his image with both intelligence and consciousness.

3 slight problems with your plee for silence.
1. I used to be an atheist. So if the people of faith in my life that God put there had never reached out to me with the Gospel, I wouldnt be a believer today! So dont tell me that it doesnt pay to talk to unbelievers.
2. We are mandated to talk to unbelievers about matters of faith, reason the Scriptures, and preach the Gospel to the world. So why should be abandon our mission of preaching the Gospel to this lost world?
3. As future generations come and young people come of age and start asking Q's, the same old talks endlessly repeat in the generations until God ends it all. The quest for truth as it were never ends.

I don't know if I answered you on any of this before but I agree with why bother with the 'prove/can't prove' god business.
Let's talk probability. What is the probability God, Zeus, Zoltar, Allah, Ganesh, Odin and all the others exist?
In fairness, I must assign a VERY low probability to the lot of them.

Because "is there a god" ultimately matters a lot.
And because I used to be a bible thwacker and if I can be reasoned with, so can they.
Believing in a literal translation of the bible matters a great deal in my country (USA). What they believe directly impacts my life, with limiting what my children are taught in school and scientific funding for stem cell research. It globally effects us all when we decide not to care about the planet because Jesus is returning any day now. Or when we cut off funding for agencies that provide condoms to Africa, which means a horrific death from AIDS for millions.
If I go on, I'm going to get depressed. But...it matters, more than anything I can think of. If it bums you out, I understand. You might try philosophy section. It's has a more "hopeful" feel to it.

Because it is fun. What would life be like in the event that theists stopped being silly and childish? Wow, thank goodness that will never happen, you really scared me there for a second. Shame on you for doing that, if there was not the theists lack of logic to have fun with.............what a terrible thought. Your one year anniversary on YA and you are bringing up silly talk like this.

Both them vs them should read 1Thessalonians 5:3.

Every sides war has a side effect to both sides of it.

Being right to make others wrong makes for a dead end.
For there is no respect of persons with God, nor with Son,
And by law if any fail then all are accursed by curse of law.
Us-ward is neither of them vs them in Hebrews 10:39.

The reason that Christians,"bother" is because we have a command from God,to do so. We sow, water, plant and sometimes reap....God,however gives the increase.

The point is, we as Christians are called to witness to the lost (being atheists, anyone else who doesn't believe in the one true God). Allowing people to believe in false teachings is very unbiblical.
How would you feel if you had talked to one of these people via yahoo answers or whatever else, and you failed to share your faith with them? Come judgment day, God will say I put this person in your life for you to plant a seed in them and you choose to stay quiet so that you could stay peaceful..
Don't get me wrong, I think many, many atheists are very smart, incredible people. I just know that what they believe isn't true and care about them enough to make them mad at me or make them dislike me, or whatever to plant that seed so that someday, they will think back on it and eventually come to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.
