I understand the use of terms to speed up typed responses: lol, gr8 etc. But I am totally apalled at the obvious lack of spelling ability displayed here.

i do.. and i totally understand what you mean.. i have tried it myself and then you see the end result was i get to have spelling mistakes when writing a formal messages, txt abbreviations makes me dull at spellings. so i quit doing it for my own sake.

Ha-ha. It's the Internet. You shouldn't expect to see people typing at their best. It's one time everyone knows they can get out of the serious stuff and be lazy. It's not that bad if you look at it from a positive view... it's sometimes enjoyable trying to figure out what some people say.

I can understand why they shorten stuff. I shorten my words for txting and sometimes in my im's but most times, I'm a stickler for correct spelling.. It just looks more professional.

After reading pages of these questions, I agree. Some of them look like they were written by a first grader, or maybe even a pre-schooler. Some celebs, however, do it on purpose.
