Our dog trainer gave us the same solution about closing your hand around the dog's snout, looking it in the eyes, and gently shaking it's head while firmly saying "No!" or "No bite!" It's helped us but our dog has a very high prey drive and those moving hands just look like so much fun to play with! So in addition to that, we use to wipe our hand with lemon juice or vinegar. Not pleasant but effective. Just be sure not to touch your face if you try it.

Well well well.
This is the best question I like to answer even though to some it don't make sense or it takes to much time to do but if you have enough time in your day take time out of your day and teach him/her small commands like 'no', 'quit', stop that'.
You should use a nice but firm voice.
This can take up to a week or more but the more you do it the better off you and your new friend will become.
Also have other people like friends or family come over and do the same cause this will register in the dog's head to do something right and maybe deserve a treat.
Make sure you also buy some chew toys that are a hard plastic material.
If you but cloth or such you will be cleaning up for a long time while still teaching a command that's not working.
Good luck

Every time the puppy bites, either poke her tongue with your finger, or squeeze her lip under her teeth and make her bite herself (not to the point that she is really hurt). Always give a firm "NO!" This is not cruel. This is proper training.

Depends on the type of dog! If you have like a 40lb puppy, I wouldn't suggest sticking your hand in its mouth any more than necessary. However, if you have a 5 lb puppy, just grab its lower jaw and tell it NO. Mine really didn't like loosing the freedom to move around freely! After a couple of weeks she realized that if she was going to bite me, she wasn't going to be able to continue playing because I had ahold of her jaw!!

This is a bit unconventional, and does not involve hands on contact with the dogs mouth- but it worked for my Rotty pup:
YELP like a puppy who has had its foot or tail stepped on. Loud and shrill- like OUCH- That HURT me- littermates convey this during play when other pups bite them too hard.
It can't hurt to try it.

All you need to do is pull down their flews (Their lips that hang down) and pull them under their teeth and push so they're actually feeling how bad biting hurts. They won't ever bite again. It's easier if the puppy hasn't had its adult teeth yet. Every kid in my 4-h class did this and their dog doesn't bite any more.

I hold on to their mouth (just till they are uncomfortable). They don't like not being able to get away, and after a while will stop biting. And of course, give them a very firm NO! while looking into their eyes.

when they bite you stick your hand a little farther in their throat till they open their mouth but not so far that you hurt it. It'll take a couple of times till they realize it's not comfortable- but in turn after you get your hand back give him a kong toy or something to chew on since his mouth is probably hurting from teething
