I view superstition more as a fear of the unknown... which usually leads to willfull ignorance (not wanting to know). As for testing it, I don't think there's a single test one can use to determine the existence in that sense. A lot of beliefs about Gods and Goddess' and everything in between them and us are VERY superstitious. I guess one has to be willing to walk a fine line, keep to reason and logic as much as possible, but admitting that some things just don't have a logical reason or can't be explained completely. I don't doubt something is there - I doubt what everyone else is telling me is there.

The dictionary definition of superstition is a belief which is not based on human reason or scientific knowledge, but is connected with old ideas about magic, etc. As the existence of god etc. ISN'T based on human reason or scientific knowledge, I don't see how you would test it. Just go with your instinct.

Go to:
godisimaginary.com and see the study on prayer. Test prayer...pray for something anything. See if it happens.
Pray for peace on earth. Pray for an amputee to grow a leg back. Pray for cancer to be cured. Pray for anything you want and to any thing you want.
Some prayer will be "answered", some will not be "answered".
Relious people say...God has three answers, Yes, No and Later
A jug of milk has three answers...Yes, No and Later.
Pray to a jug of milk and it will happen the same way. Ask the jug of milk for peace on earth, for the end of divorce, for the end of child hunger in the world and the jug of milk will answer..."Yes" "No" or "Later". (Those answers cover every possibility and is really no answer at all.)
Relilgion makes people feel better. It makes people feel better to have an imaginary friend. Now I'm not saying imaginary friends are't nice when things are really bad but you must remain logical enough to realize that the friend is imaginary. (When I feel sad, I pretend my dog understands me...I know of course that the dog doesn't but for a few minutes, I feel connected to something and feel better. Pretty soon, I'm functioning normally again. THANK YOU DOG! Of course the dog didn't understand all my financial problems but talking to something made me feel better.
Go ahead and talk to an imaginary friend when you want to and then role play what you think the imaginary friend would say back to you...(of course it is your own mind suggesting solutions to your problems and not any supreme being). The truth is, you know what to do and you can do it. When we have lack of self confidence we talk to someone besides our self but when we "pray" we trick our mind into thinking something ourside ourself is "helping" us and that extra boost of confidence makes us do something that we didn't think we could do without self confidence.
God is superstition but a good superstition at times. Use it when it makes you feel better but realize that it is only "Santa Claus" or the "Easter Bunny" and just as fantastically un real. If you want to believe in Santa Claus at Christmas because its just fun...go ahead. Play. Enjoy. Its never too late to have a happy childhood but come back to adulthood once in a while and remember that its just a game to create happiness. Games are great! Adulthood, reality and reason are actually better but you don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Don't become so adult that you can't relax and have fun and don't become so child like that you can't reason effectively.
GOD IS IMAGINARY!! Go check out the sight for some really good food for thought. godisimaginary.com
Also look at: www.whywontgodhealamputees.com
Chew on that a while and you'll come back with a very adult opinion on logic and superstition.

A superstition is a practice formed off a basic belief.
Ex.
#1: If I carry a horse shoe I will word bad luck.
#2: If a black cat walks passed me it is a witches apparition and I will have bad luck
#3. If I break a mirror I will have bad luck
By this defenition it is nearly impossible/logical to define god as a superstition a rather fitting term and more common reference would be mythological. I can not walk passed god and have bad luck or wear him/her/it around my neck and have good luck. Many religions may preach to wear a symbol of their religion around your neck is good luck and that would be a superstition, but the fact remains god is not a superstition. It/he/she is a belief and thus is best described as "mythology."
As for testing the existence of god, look into your own being and question whether or not creation and life is possible without the existence of a higher power. Consider the fabrication of time and all its offspring and ponder of that which is in comprehensible to humans and consider that there must be a higher being who understands.
HANSEL: Jesus never claims to be god, actualy in numerous accounts he clarifies his seperation from the father, your god. So your wrong in saying that Jesus is god and basically contradicting your own religion =/

To me its interesting that almost every culture in history has had some sort of "god" or belief system. What are the odds that every culture on Earth has the same superstition?

BELIEVE in Him, that is the best test you will ever do with God.
Just as you BELIEVE that your parents gave birth to you and brought you up; and just as you BELIEVE that there will be tomorrow.
Take a leap of faith, it's fun and adventurous.
