Get some dog training books. They are easier to find, and the same techniques can work with cats.

Cats can be trained to do anything a dog can, but it takes more patience and reinforcement.

Fetch is easy if the cat wants to.

Use a small toy of theres, throw it just a few feet away, then let them play with it. If they return it throw it again. Never try to force them, they will do it if its fun.

I had a cat the only would fetch wadded up cigerett packs, and he could drive you crazy chacing them all night, as fast as you could throw it, then maybe not for weeks. now I have 2 that fetch the toy mice, they will play with them for a while before returnig them.

Teaching your cat to kiss you is easy and fun- when it greets you after you have been aways lean down and touch nosies. Cats love it (well most do)

Find a toy they seem to enjoy playing with alot to teach them how to fetch. My siamese enjoys playing with the rings that are on milk jugs so I would toss it and she learned to bring it back. The key is repetition and be sure to show him/her what you want her to do. Also, cats have very short attention spans so be sure to only do it a couple of times before waiting another day and attempting it again. After my cat got the idea should would bug the crap out of me by always wanting me to throw the ring on the milk jug. She would sit at my feet when I opened a new jug of milk so she could get her paws on the ring to play fetch!

We managed to teach ours purring, self cleaning, and abusing the dogs. We didn't have much luck training them either.

Start early and keep at it. we were never consistent about training, that's really the key.

I've seen cats that can use a normal toilet instead of a letterbox (and flush) Open doors (ours can open donut boxes...)

Really just about anything. People don't really expect tricks out of a cat though, it's a very difficult prospect. mind altering drugs make cats entertaining too, and catnip is pretty cheap.

To teach them 'high five' all you need to do is to put your hand in front of them and wiggle your fingers. They will whack you hand with their paw. Then give them a treat. Do that a couple times each day and then wiggle your fingers less and keep giving treats. After a week or so stop wiggling all together but keep giving treats when your kitten does hit your hand. Then start moving your hand a little higher each week. And then your kitten should do it automaticly.
And if you want them to come to you when you call just say their name and pet them over and over. Then say their name furthur away and they should come to you.
Have fun!

If they're anything like my 2 you could try and teach them not to race around wrecking everything. Nothing's sacred, they clear dining tables, coffe tables and my desk at least twice a day but they're great fun to watch.
I read the other day that you can't teach cats to chase and fetch. They'll naturally chase things you throw for them but if they bring it back it's their natural instinct to carry prey rather than what you've taught them.
My two will chase anything I throw for them but won't always bring it back.

I actually taught my cat how to do high five. I don't know how she picked it up, but she did. I got her doing it on camera, if you want to check it out, use the link I posted.
