what does the phrase 'clawing panic' mean? i really need help on this!!!!! ASAP

It is describing an extreme form of panic. Imagine someone has a phobia of elevators. They get inside one and they are so panicked that they try to claw the door open.

you know the feeling when your back is against the wall, and your trapped by an oppenent. clawing panic is the ragee you go into when you leap from the corner fighting tooth and nail to get the upperhand and either win or escape. it's mostly adrenaline mixed with instinct and fear.

Utter, overwhelming fear.
When you're so scared you clutch your face with clawed fingers.
