I have been studying a lot of religions and I like Buddhism the best so far. I was raised in a Christian area and everyone says I will go to Hell if I choose Buddhism.

After much prayer and seeking and scripture reading, I have absolutely no desire to become a Christian. Am I to understand that God wants me to become a Christian even against my better judgment? That just does not sound right at all!

I simply do not find it logical to believe the things Christianity says I must believe!

buddhism is a godless choice; but it's YOUR choice to make. That's what free will's all about. I do, however, pray the Holy Spirit will guide and direct you to Jesus. It's not a question of someone just indiscriminately DECIDING WHEN they will or WILL NOT believe. You can only believe when God is dealing with your Heart. I pray He will......

Fear is the cornerstone of organised religion.
Fear of being cast into a hot place for eternity and miss out on the wonders of a non-existent paradise forever.
Fear of being judged by an imaginary supernatural being.
Fear of accepting reality into your life just in case there IS a god somewhere and, thus, the fear of making a huge mistake.
Don't worry - be happy.
There is no god. It is all in the mind.
Buddhism ... could be interesting. I don't know a great deal about it but, correct me if I'm wrong here, it sounds like there is no god figure, is not a 'religion' as such and it is simply a system for living with greater awareness. I must look deeper into it.
Am I right in saying that Buddha was a teacher and not a god?
Curious. Intriguing.

Well, you could become a Christian, and say that you believe all their stuff....even though you know deep down inside that you really don't.

BUT...if the Biblical god is so all-knowing, wouldn't he know that you were lying?

I don't think you can just "be a Christian" if you don't really believe all their stuff.

Buddhism is a great religion. Go for it, if you feel drawn to it.

Don't let some Christians scare you when they tell you "God says..." or "The Bible says....that you will burn in hell if you don't believe." How do THEY know what "God says"? If God wants to tell you something he should do it himself, not use a mouthpiece.

First there is no Burning Hellfire, so that isn't even scriptural.
You could give facts and reason with most so-called "Christians" forever and it wouldn't even affect their judgment.

To actually believe ANYTHING you must develop faith.
To develop faith your heart must honestly be looking for the truth.
If you are Almighty God will guide you to it.

You must be Honest with yourself
Spiritually Hungry
Finally you must be Humble to accept direction once you
are faced with a decision about whether to accept what you have
learned as truth or move on.

According to 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 the high and mighty world religions are not necessarily being used by God to get his purpose accomplished. I hope this gets you thinking.

"For YOU behold his calling of YOU, brothers, that not many wise in a fleshly way were called, not many powerful, not many of noble birth; 27 but God chose the foolish things of the world, that he might put the wise men to shame; and God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put the strong things to shame; 28 and God chose the ignoble things of the world and the things looked down upon, the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are, 29 in order that no flesh might boast in the sight of God."

Don't believe anything that doesn't seem right to you. Just because everyone is doing something doesn't mean that it is right. Think for yourself and do what you think is right. Don't just follow a crowd...even a christian one.

If you don't believe in it, it can't hurt you. If you think it can hurt you, it is because you still believe in it.

If a Moslem told you that you would go to Hell if you weren't Moslem, would you be afraid? If a Hindu told you that one of their God's would torment you for not being Hindu, would you be afraid? If Christians tell you you will go to hell, would it scare you? The only one that will scare you is the one you believe in and if you believe it, you better follow all the rules flawlessly or you will be tormented. If you don't believe it...sleep well.

Religion is only a method of allowing some people control other people through superstition. Don't be giving any religious people your money!!!

Good choice in religion by the way. I'm not Buddhist, but I have a lot of respect for what it teaches.
It's also a 180 from Christianity, which has ruled through tyranny.

Congratulations on thinking for yourself.

Don't buy into people telling you that you are going to Hell if you don't believe. A LOVING GOD would allow you into Heaven if you lived a good and moral life. An unjust, unforgiving, megalomaniacal god would care.

And if there IS no God then at least you lived a good life on earth and will be remembered fondly for your actions here, instead of blindly following a religion out of fear you'll be punished.

Perhaps its time you stop searching in religions & seek God instead.God is such a good God that He has let you make your own choices & even if you choose another god to worship he loves you nonetheless.BUT He has already made known to you what awaits you if you take a different road. You say you have studied other religions. What did these other gods offer you? What miracles have they performed? What prayers of yours have been answered by them?I would really like to know.Because the God that I serve is real & is alive. He has done marvelous things in my life to numerous to count!!
So why don't you give Jesus Christ a chance? He'll even give you eternal life NOONE can top that! This way you won't have to worry about going to hell because hell was not made for you.The bible says it was made for the devil & his angels.Heaven was made for you.So ask God to show you what he has for you & what he can do for you.
I am sure if you honestly do it He'll answer & you know what you won't be forced by fear to serve him.Y ou will willingly want to do it!

Here's what is strange about Christianity. Although each sect gets along with one another, each thinks that they are the one true group that is going to Heaven, and that all others are going to Hell.
My advise would be to read and get a deeper understanding of the teachings of Life Masters of your choice whether it is Jesus, Buddha, or some other.
The road to eternal happiness is not found among the material treasures you find in this life.
So reach deeper into spiritualism, it lies in another plane of consciousness.

Live Well.......

I'm a buddhism and was a catholic, people around me also say the same stuff also that I will go to hell and all that. But I have little against them, I don't care even if I go to hell or not as long as what makes sense I follow it, after all we live in reality not fantasy.

Don't fall into peer's/family's pressure.

I have christian friend who are very kind that wish to tell me 'the truth', i went to the church and few gethering, but kindness and friendship indeed touches me a lot. However, I know I just can't fit into Christainity, I have no problem with Christain, i mean different people have different belief system, personality, so each individual need to find one belief system which suite their personal spiritual development.

Now I have found my own spiritual guide and very happy with it.

If you have no desire to become a Christian, then it's best that you don't. Do you honestly believe that any God would want your worship under false pretenses? That would only make you miserable AND be disrespectful to the God in question, in my opinion.

I advise you to release your fear and follow the path that personal honesty dictates. It is the only honorable way to proceed.
