the best thing you can do is LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKE! Find out what is true BEFORE you take action.
as far as the guy goes ... if he is worth dating then you can explain it to him and he will understand. Talk to him and tell him the truth!

Send him a letter...just tell him you want to apologize...tell him your friend told you some really off the wall stuff about him and because it was a friend you just thought you should believe it...but you have had time to think about it...and feel bad that you didn't just ask him personally...you've just felt bad about it, and wanted to apologize. Then leave it at that. If he is interested, he'll look you up.

choices according to me are:
1. call him and confront to him whether the gossips are true
2. call him and start making friends with him again (without mentioning the gossip)
3. move on (maybe it's best just not to be close with him again). But still keep maintaing a good relationship (a formal one)
4. confront ur friend
5. ... (make ur own decision, ur the one who knows best of the situation and the characteristic of the person)

You can always try talking to the guy again. Start with "sorry" or something like that. I had a friend, well, I thought she was my friend, that told me all kinds of bologna about one of my boyfriends and was telling him stuff about me and none of it was true, her intention was to break us up. It worked and I regret never asking him for the truth beforehand.

I don't know that is a tough situation, I did the same thing but now it seems he will never forgive me, just apologize and promise that you will do better in the future..other than that I don't know..but I hope things work out better for you

Grow up! Learn to fact find instead of spreading lies...
Why is it girls like you think you should hurt a guys feelings based on something someone else said?
Unless he's expressed interest in you, leave him alone.

apologize to him and see if you can maybe try again. dont always do what your friends say to do and dont always listen to them. she might have wanted him for herself, so watch out.
