that agrees with your opinion. I mean if you already know the answer on where you stand on a particular topic, why lose the points and ask the question?

Oops.....I see this posted twice...so, why do we ask questions and then choose an answer that already agrees with our own opinions?

People crave affirmation...

To be fair, I have had people who disagree strongly with my answers and I have received a best answer from them despite this.

That's why I don't ask many questions, and those I DO generally aren't in the database yet. And I've given Best Answer to people I disagree with because they really did give the best answer to my question.

Not all questions target opinionated answers.

Some seek out information, though most are asked out of ignorance and a lack of willingness to search for the answer, such as "Where in the Bible...?"

it proves one point and one drawback:
choosing the best answer will satisfy the one who asked the question.
Drawback is choosing the "best" answer, not always the right answer.
