Simon Magus was levitating, and claiming to be a deity. Peter petitioned God to strike Magus down. Magus then fell to the ground. The crowd around him realized he was a fake, and stoned Simon Magus to death.

I want to say the Book of Acts, but I think it might be in the Apocrypha - I could be wrong, though.

Acts ch 8 vs 20-24 in the Bible. Although it does not say Peter killed or attempted to kill Simon the sorcerer. It merely says he corrected Simon's erroneous beliefs

I believe it is found either in the Acts of Peter or the Apocalypse of Peter. These are not inspired books but were part of tradition and could contain truth and exaggeration.
