How is it caused and how can it be cured?

You mean swimmer's ear? It means the ear wax is really jammed deep in your ear...maybe infected too. Some people are really prone to that and it will happen often after you swim.

Try wearing ear plugs and those head bands you wear around your ears to keep the water out. Most drug stores carry them.

It's a fungal infection of the ear canal caused by moisture there (sometimes from a pool). It can be horribly painful, harm hearing. Prescriptive ear drops can cure it but the process can take a long time. Drugstores sell drops that are made to prevent "pool ear" but they are useless once you have it.

not heard of pool ear, but swimmers ear, it happens when water gets trapped in the ear canal, and causes an infection and if not treated can cause a host of problems... if you think you have it,,, seek a pro asap, dude!!
