we know exactly that canned food has absolutely no certainty that its healthy for our cute animals. So I bought an e-book from a staffordshire breeder and im now cooking for my 2 puppies. Its not only healthier and cheaper (i spend about 45c a day per dog...) but i i know EXACTLY what im putting in it. They get essential vitamins and minerals by putting certain things. So why is it considered such a "crime" to cook for my puppies?

I don't think it is, but I also feel that cooking isn't the best way either.

Your pets aren't getting all they could be out of the food they eat that way. It destroys vital nutrients.

Also dogs and cats digestive systems have a really hard time digesting cooked foods, as they are designed to eat raw foods.

Look into a raw diet instead, that's much healthier than feeding any sort of cooked diet.

It's definitely NOT a crime, it's very good for your dogs, one of the best ways to know exactly what's going in your pups tummy. Just as long as you follow the recipes exactly so that they get all of the vitamines and minerals that they are needing, then you are doing a great job. But many people don't have time to cook a home cooked meal for themselves, let alone their dogs, so they opt for the 'pre-made' dog foods.

if you want to let your dog have canned food it good but not all the time your right. have them eat the hard food to. but i have a fat beagle and my veterinarian said to cook her vegetables for her on the stove. Its not a crime lol

Ol' roy and beniful are really bad.

Eukanuba, nature's choice, and Iams are all good.

Try to avoid food with to much dyes. They may be pretty to us but dogs don't care what color their food is.

As for cooking for your dogs. there is nothing wrong with that, it just isn't the best thing for them. They could be missing some important nutrients. So I suggest you talk to your vet about getting them some vitamins. Also human food will give them plaque problems so I suggest learning how to brush there teeth and doing it about 3 times a week. Make sure you get toothpaste for dogs. Check petsmart or petco.
