You Don't....they're locked together for a reason ....THATS THE WAY IT WORKS WITH DOGS.... Leave them alone and they will "unlock" on their own.

Try showing the male a picture of another male dog with its thingy exposed... if that doesn't work you've got yourself a whole other set of problems.
