How much does a rather nice, not fully loaded, Ford Fusion cost ... my son wants one but not until he gets his license in May of 07. How much would a brand new one cost? Or how much do you think a used one would cost then? Really interested .. thanks.

A Ford Fusion is a newer model and you might be hard pressed to find a used one.
As far as a new one....all you need do is check the huge display adds in your local Sunday paper or check the Ford dealership.

I read that same article. The Fusion has received many accolades since it's introduction, and now with AWD available, and standards curtain airbags and ABS, even better and even safer for '07.
I wouldn't be so focused about the insurance rate on a new car, and new driver. In "my time", I had a luxury car that was one year used, handed to me by my mother, and that tremendous boat had a much lower insurance rate, than a friends 3 year old Civic.
Theft, and accident history of a specific model are huge factors in overall cost. If a specific vehicle has the perception of being cool and hip, and has a high theft rate, it'll reflect moreso than a luxury car, or mass market midsize sedan.
Also, zip code is another factor that determinds one's rates here in the U.S. If you live in a zip code with a high density population, OR leave in a condominium complex, or one thats shared with a University or College, it'll raise the rates. If your in an area that predominantly older, retired folks, it can be quite low...

actually, msn ran an article today stating that the fusion is actually the top recommended model for teens. SE with auto would go under 20k (and that has the stuff a teen likes, such as a 6 disc changer, ipod jack, and maybe even satellite radio) great handling, nice looking, and safe.
the 07's have side airbags standard, the '06 model (what you would find pre-owned) did not. i say go for the '07!

my, it must be nice to have a sugar daddy! That's a lot of car for a beginner. How about a 1986 Aspen or Caprice for starters, he will live through any confrontation in one of those.
