Well, lol, it can be confusing =) But yea, maybe people think that 5 to the -2 would be -25... lol, but it not. If you square anything, it's a positive. So, 5 to the -2 would be 1/5^2, or 1/25. Hope this helps =D

Negative exponents just move the number to the denominator of a fraction.

So this is 1 over 5 squared

1 / 5^2 = 1/25

5 to the power of -2=.04 or 1/25 as one answer said.

Check it out using a calculator.
