Religion is part of a worldview...and Everyone has a worldview. All people think about the important questions of life, and those questions necessitate a religious framework. All people think about where they came from, why they are here, what their purpose is, what's wrong with the world and what needs to be fixed.
Religion is an effect of the answers to those questions. You can believe in God or self, or evolutionary pondscum, or Karma, all of that is religion.

O.K.
If you are Born-Again:
1. Going to a building every Sunday to Worship is Great. Nothing wrong with it, if you go 3 days a week, Real Good so on so on.
2. Going to the (building) so the Holy Spirit can Work the Gifts through Pastors, Prophets, Evangelist etc. is Good. That is what getting together is for---to Perfect the Saints (Born-Again People) so They can Learn to Walk in Faith and Holiness.
3. When the People put a Name on that Building and start getting away from letting the Holy Spirit Lead and Guide the services (meetings)--it Starts becomning a Religion.
4. Religion keeps you from Reality. Reality is when you Learn How to Walk in Faith and Holiness by the Holy Spirit Teaching you in meetings (assembling of the Born-Again Children of GOD).
This is a simple explanation.
When you get Away from the Holy Spirit's LeaderShip and Guidance in Meetings, you get into Religion.
Ditto....................

Any repetitive act can be called a ritual or religion. Someone watches "American Idol" religiously, someone else religiously eats lunch at 12 noon, millions attend church on Sunday religiously but that isn't what the true worship of God is all about. Where it comes to being Christian it's not about religion but RELATIONSHIP. So religion, as long as no animals or people are hurt, is OK in some cases.

I think religion other than loving God above all else and loving everyone else as you love yourself, is not good. Religion puts demands on people and is all about rules. Jesus was not religious, he obeyed the law but he was the total opposite of the Pharisees who were extremely religious. Religion says you must get on your knees to pray or you have to go to church every Sunday or read your bible everyday or you are a bad person. To be spiritual means you can obey all of God's laws simply because you love God and do not want to disappoint him.

Everything should be taken in moderation. Religion is no exception. It could only be good when religion serves as a potent tool for one's moral life. Taken to the extreme , one will lead an army to kill or blow oneselves up taking innocent civilians with them.

If you follow the teaching of Jesus Christ you come across a common theme. Releasing negative emotions (hate, anger) and replacing them with positive ones (love). Is that good or bad? You decide.

OK here goes again. RELIGION=A SET OF RITUALS, LAWS, AND DOCTRINES USUALLY PRACTICED WITHIN AN ORGANIZED STRUCTURE. Talk w/o walk=bad. Walk the talk=good. Don't tell me show me

Religion = Good
Church = Bad
Religion doesn't start stuff.......Churches do. And Churches are guilty of ignoring the meek of the world....their 1st job, yet they don't do it. Even the Bible warns us of the Church.
