Can you tell me from what the bodies are made and what is the size of the body compared to our street cars of same make. What is stock about Mark's Fusion and Jeff's Monta Carlo?

The construction of one of these cars has nothing in common with how a street car is made. With the exception of the roof, hood and deck lid (which are supplied by the manufacturer),

The bodies are made of thin steel sheetmetal. The way I understand the only rule is the roof must be an OEM (origional equipment manufactured) body part. Everything you see is hand made on various pieces of equipment. Welded, sanded filled with body filler primed and painted. The bodies must all pass various templates at the racetracks. Mark Martin drives the a Chevrolet by the way. No more Fords!

"CAN'T TELL YOU MUCH HOW THESE ARE MADE !! BUT I CAN TELL YOU ABOUT THE DRIVERS....LOL"

Brilliant answer. This is proof that NASCAR is more about the soap opera and the marketing than about the racing.

A NASCAR Fusion has more in common with an F150 than a Fusion. The F150 has a solid rear axle and a V8. Two things that a Fusion certainly does not have.

Well,

Chris actually gave you all the numbers. However, just a basic idea.....every car has a Front clip, a roll cage and a rear clip. Then the outer shell is made from sheetmetal. and then given the paint scheme. There is no trunk.

So picture this......a car skeletal system......The area from the windshield to the fake headlights...is called the front clip........the area where the driver sits....is the roll cage and then from the rear windshield and back is called the rear clip. Then the outer shell or the body.

Nothing is stock anymore The roof hood and deck lid are stamped by an outside vendor.
The nose and tail are made of fiberglass.
All the other panels are hand built by people in the shops.
All other parts are made just for racing.

The bodies are made out of sheet metal.
I think they are smaller in height than regular cars.
