Okay so we are going to have a yellow/white wedding. My problem is I don't know if this is all going to look good! I know I want my bridesmaids in yellow cocktail dresses. but groomsmen?? I don't want them in tuxes, this is what I was thinking:

white shirt w/ yellow tie, black slacks?
white shirt, yellow tie, khaki slacks?
yellow shirt, white tie, black or khaki slacks?

opinions please!

also my husband doesn't want to wear a white tux, do you think a black tux w/ a yellow vest would look okay or too bumble bee-ish?

thanks for any input!!

What time of year is the wedding? What will the weather be? that kind of creates a expected theme... I'd say summer and spring go with khaki pants, fall and winter go black...Either way white shirts....

But then again if the husband wears a black tux you will want it to somewhat match so then black pants.

My second wedding I had Yellow for my bridesmaids but it was a pale yellow. The guys wore black tux's and looked nothing like a bumble bee. It turned out nice, I have pictures if you'd like to see.

We had a hard time finding matching shades in vests, flower girl dress an such. We had two flower girls an the dresses were white with colored trim an colored laces going up the back. In the store it looked nothing close to being yellow, it was actually a color called Rum, but once we got the rum dresses up next to the yellow bridesmaid dresses it seemed as if it was a perfect match, the other yellow brought out a yellow-ish tint in the rum.
I didn't think the vest's would match either but the same thing happened, as long as you get one with a design in it like I did with getting one with swirls that were yellow mixed with a color like the Rum it worked out great!

Anyway's I'd say Khaki but that creates a bigger problem with the groom in black. Is there a way he could just wear Khaki dress pants an different style shirt and tie so he'd stand out as the groom? NO white tux!

Nix the yellow shirt idea.. If the girls dresses aren't ultra formal, dress khakis, white shirt and a tie with some yellow in it would look nice. Will the men be wearing jackets? If the wedding will be formal, how about this idea? Black suits, crisp white shirt, pale yellow tie (or a tie with some yellow in it). If that's not enough yellow for you, add a yellow rose boutonniere for the men. I wouldn't do the black tux with a yellow vest, it will be too bumble-bee ish. An all black tux (white shirt of course) would look smashing with a single yellow flower boutonniere in the lapel.

I think the white shirt and yellow tie with black slacks would be real classy. If you are have outdoor wedding I think the white shirt yellow tie and khaki would be nice. If your dress is white you are going to regret the white tux, or at least some of my friends who choose white because they blended to much in the pictures and look washed out. I think black suit would look nice just don't choose a bright yellow for his vest as your fear might come true. Go for a more lighter yellow.

Congrats and Good Luck with your decision.

First, let me say, very cool of you to pick yellow as a color...!!!

If you want to stay away from the bumble bee look, try a very cool light yellow color, not a butter yellow. If the groom goes with the black tux and a cool light yellow vest; have the grooms go with black slacks, cool light yellow shirts with black ties, possibly? Or the black slacks/yellow tie and white shirt....

I would suggest, either way, swaying far far away from khaki...it just doesn't mix well with yellow.

If yellow is going to be your color (hopefully a light yellow and not a bright canary yellow) then make sure you have a LOT of black. Otherwise the yellow will get lost in all the white and it will end up looking like an 80's wedding from a Miami Vice episode!

For the men I suggest black slacks, black jackets, black vests, and instead of bow ties do yellow neck ties with thick knots. Bow ties will make them look like popcorn salesman! Then highlight the yellow neck ties with yellow boutineers. SHARP!

For the ladies do matching yellow dresses that are simple, elegant, and not too frilly or flashy. Nice, clean, and sharp.

Good luck! And hopefully people won't think I'm gay because I have fashion sense! LOL!

groom: white tux shirt white vest white tie white pants or
groom:black shirt white vest white tie black pants
bestman: yellow shirt white vest white tie white pants or
bestman: yellow shirt black vest black tie black pants
groomsmen : white shirt yellow vest yellow tie white pants or
groomsmen: black shirt yellow vest yellow tie black pants

i would go with the full back six button style vest. if you have problems finding the yellow shirts vests or ties we have a store here called Dans Tuxedo and B's Bridal and I know for a fact that they have those colors and in dresses too the phone number is 417-623-3808 there is also www.tuxedosdirect.com
www.tuxedosonline.com
www.davidsbridal.com -the herringbone in yellow
www.mrneats.com-mel howard vest in buttercup
and the tallia uomo yellow microfiber laydown tux shirt
the vest just pulls the look together so much better. for a much more informal look ditch the ties all together but I would still keep the vest

I think the white shirt w/ yellow tie, black slacks combination would look the best. As for the groom, i am not sure... i think it would look fine with the black tux and yellow vest because that is what your wedding color are.... get him to try it on and see what you and him think

A white shirt, yellow tie, and khaki slacks is a nice option. Especially if the wedding is in the summer.

I think a black tux with a white shirt, and a yeallow vest would be nice!!! I also think the yellow rose bud on the tux would be a nice touch. Or what about having the girls carry down a white roses. I think that would be beautiful. I am getting married in July too.!!!
I am having my girls wearing peridot, and carrying lilac color flowers and the men are wearing ivory tuxes. (to match my dress)

Yellow is beautifully contrasted with blue. Blue makes yellow pop. Try a navy blue tux with white shirt and gold lam'e satin cummerband.
