This is assuming that autosave was turned on, of course. Is there a "temporary documents" (not "temporary internet files") folder somewhere that things are autosaved to? Thanks for the help -

That's the thing - I never saved it and gave it a filename in the first place.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but you cannot recover a document that has not been saved. You can once it has been saved and deleted, but that is not the case here.
If you are lucky, take the earlier advise, in case the auto save feature in office word was set.
Its unfortunate, but a good lesson...try to save often in future.
sniff...(I hate when that happens)

What kind of word do you have? If you have an outdated version of the software, then you need to purchase a new copy, preferably Microsoft Office 2003, because the word in this software has an option of File Recover. If you have the version mentioned in the sentence prior, then just go to a toolbar and right-click on it, it will show you all of the available toolbars. You might or might not get a toolbar option called "Document Recover". If you do, then this will solve your problem.

When closing word will ask whether you want to save it. Did it, and did you?
Check in the folder you save the documents in.
Check for documents named ~WRL1234.tmp The numbers can be anything and are only shown as examples.

when you close Word it asks you if you want to save the document. If you didn't save it at that time I am afraid you'll have to type it all over again.
